What kind of griever are you?

Most people are a blend of all four styles. Understanding your primary style helps you stop judging your own grief and start working with it.

🌿

Physical Griever

You feel grief in your body. Sleep changes, appetite shifts, tension in your shoulders. You cope by moving, doing, taking care of physical needs.

  • Take a walk in nature, even a short one
  • Prioritize sleep and gentle nourishment
  • Try a warm bath, massage, or gentle stretching
  • Deep breathing when the heaviness hits
💛

Emotional Griever

You feel grief as waves of emotion. Sadness, anger, guilt, love. You need to talk it out, cry it out, and feel heard.

  • Journal without editing yourself
  • Call someone who will just listen
  • Let yourself cry — it is not weakness
  • Find one activity that brings you a moment of joy
📖

Mental Griever

You process grief by seeking understanding. You ask why. You research, read, and need things to make sense before you can move forward.

  • Read about grief — knowledge can feel like control
  • Create structure and routine in your days
  • Set one small goal each week
  • Join a support group to connect with others who understand
🕯️

Spiritual Griever

You grieve through meaning-making. Prayer, nature, ceremony, or a sense of something larger than yourself. You need connection to what endures.

  • Light a candle, pray, or sit quietly in nature
  • Create a small ritual or memorial
  • Explore what this loss means in your life story
  • Connect with a spiritual community or leader
